Questions
Everything people ask us
How much does gutter cleaning cost?
It depends on the size of the house, how many storeys, how many downspouts and how full the gutters are. Text a photo of the front of the house and we send a price back, usually within the hour. No visit needed to quote.
Do I need to be home?
No. As long as we can reach the gutters and there is an outside spigot, we can do the whole job while you are at work. You get photos by text when it is done.
Do you clean the debris up afterwards?
Yes. Everything comes down in buckets, gets bagged and leaves with us. Walks, decks and beds are left as we found them.
How often should gutters be cleaned in Lake County?
Twice a year for most homes: late fall after the leaves drop and late spring after the seeds and fluff. Homes under heavy tree cover or near the lake sometimes need a third visit.
Will you go on the roof?
Only where it is safe and necessary, usually to clear a valley or a flat section. Most of the work is done from ladders. We stay off slate, cedar and anything steep or wet.
What if you find something broken?
We tell you before we touch it. Small things - a loose hanger, a downspout that has come apart - we can usually fix on the spot for a small add-on. Anything bigger you get a price for and decide.
How do I know a downspout is clogged?
Water pouring over one corner of the gutter in a storm while the rest is fine, or a downspout that trickles while the gutter above it is full. Standing water in a clean gutter also means the outlet is blocked.
Can you clear underground drain pipes?
We flush them with a hose and test where the water comes out. Grit and leaf clogs clear. If the pipe is collapsed or full of roots, we tell you - that is a drain contractor's job, not a gutter job.
I have gutter guards. Do I still need cleaning?
Yes, less often. Guards keep the big leaves out and let the small stuff in. Every year or two the gutter under them needs cleaning and the top needs rinsing off.
Will you remove the guards?
Where they are designed to lift out or unclip, yes, and we refit them. Screwed-down solid covers are cleaned from the top and through the outlets.
Is this included in gutter cleaning?
Clearing the valley ends where they meet the gutter usually is. A full roof sweep and clearing behind chimneys and dormers is extra time and priced as an add-on.
Will you walk on my roof?
Where it is safe: dry asphalt shingle at a normal pitch. Slate, cedar shake, metal, steep or wet roofs are worked from the ladder and edges only.
Will the black streaks come off?
In most cases yes, if they are dirt and oxidation on intact paint. If the paint itself has failed the streaks are permanent, and we will tell you from the photo.
Is it safe for my siding and plants?
Yes. The cleaner is made for aluminum and vinyl and we wet and rinse the plants and siding below as we go.
Can you fix a sagging gutter?
Yes, if the fascia behind it is sound. We replace the failed hangers with hidden hangers and re-pitch the run so it drains. Soft fascia needs a carpenter first.
Do you replace gutters?
No. We do the small repairs that keep existing gutters working. Replacement sections, new gutters and fascia work go to a gutter contractor, and we will tell you when that is what you need.
Do you work with HOAs and property managers?
Yes. One walk-through, a schedule, per-address photos and a single invoice per visit.
Can you do a whole townhome row in one day?
Usually. Eight to twelve units in a row is a normal day. Bigger communities are split across consecutive days.
